On May 27th, UNA-China Secretariat Director Mr. YAN Liang attended the Opening Ceremony of the 8th Tianjin College Model UN Conference which was held by Tianjin Foreign Studies University. Vice-President of Tianjin People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Mr. CHEN Weiming and Deputy Secretary of Tianjin Foreign Studies University Prof. CHEN Fachun and about 150 teachers and students from 23 universities attended the activity. Mr. YAN Liang, on behalf of the UNA-China, extended his warmest congratulations and gave a brief introduction of the United Nations’ function, China-UN relations and the UNA-China. He sincerely hoped that the youngsters can realize their missions of the era, cultivate their national spirit and pay attention to China’s multilateral diplomacy through the participation of the Model UN conference. Before the Opening Ceremony, he has also delivered a thematic lecture concerning Model United Nations issues.

Tianjin Foreign Studies University has successfully held Tianjin College Model UN Conference for 7 successive years and has also held the 9th China National Model UN Conference in 2012. Under the theme of “World in danger, We in action”, this year’s?conference will discuss global anti-terrorism, energy saving, the reduction of CO2 emission and the protection of children in war zones.
