From May 23 to 24, the 2019 East Asian Forum on UN Peace Operations was held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The theme was “Developing Proposals for the implementation of the Declaration of Shared Commitments on UN Peacekeeping Operations”, discussing issues on mandates, training and capacity building, force generation and deployment, equipment, performance, and caveats etc. The Forum was co-organized by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Mongolia and the Mongolian Armed Forces. A total of 30 military representatives, experts and scholars from the United Nations Association of China (UNA-China), the Global Peacebuilding Association of Japan, the Korean Army, the Mongolian Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Department of Operational Support of United Nations attended the Forum. Ms. WANG Ying, Deputy Director-General of UNA-China, Mr. LIU Chao, Senior Advisor of the China Institute for International Strategic Studies, and Mr. ZHU Qiang, Deputy Secretary-General with OBOR-100-Experts’ Forum participated in the Forum.
