From February 18th to 22nd 2019, the Chinese Youth Global Competency Training Program at the UN, co-hosted by the United Nations Association of China (UNA-China), the World Federation of United Nations Associations and Zhejiang University, was successfully held in New York. 25 students from 5 domestic universities including Zhejiang University participated in the Program.

The Program, with a focus on the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, delivered rich content in an innovative way. Participant students had discussions with officials from UNICEF, UNESCO, UN Women, ILO, Office of the Secretary-General¡¯s Envoy on Youth, Office for South-South Cooperation, Global Compact, Department of Economic and Social Affairs, and Department of Management. They also visited the Permanent Missions of China, the United States, Sweden, Norway, Vietnam, Andorra, Greece and Pakistan to the UN. Through the above activities, the students learned about the UN mechanisms, multilateral issues, UN recruitment and etc. The Program helped the students enhance their understanding and studying of the UN and its activities, and also improved their cross-cultural communication skills.

It is the first time that the UNA-China holds an overseas program training talents for international organizations, with the purpose of helping young students learn how the UN works, enhancing understanding of the role of the UN and developing ability of dealing with international issues.
