The 18th East Asian Seminar on the United Nations System held in Beijing
From 9th to 11th November 2018, United Nations Association of China (UNA-China) and Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) co-hosted the 18th East Asian Seminar on the United Nations System. Participants discussed Situation on the Korean Peninsula, Security Cooperation in East Asia, Reform in the UN Development System, Challenges to the Multilateral Trading System and People-to-People Exchanges. Amb. Wu Hailong, President of UNA-China, Prof. Tatsuro Kunugi, Director of Japan Association for United Nations Study (JAUNS) and former UN Assistant Secretary-General, Prof. Han Sung-Joo, Chairman of the Korean Academic Council on the United Nations System (KACUNS) and former Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea (ROK), and Prof. Liu Li, President of BLCU attended and addressed the Opening Session. More than 60 experts and scholars from UNA-China, JAUNS, KACUNS and ACUNS attended the Seminar.
The East Asian Seminar on the United Nations System is a dual-track exchange mechanism of UN issues among China, Japan and the ROK. Since 2011, China, Japan and the ROK take the turn to host the Seminar. The ROK will host the Seminar next year.
