From May 9 - 10, 2018, the United Nations Association of China (UNA-China), the Social Sciences Research Council (SSRC), American University (AU) and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) jointly held an international workshop on Bringing New and Promising Dynamics to Sustainable Peace: Emerging Countries Engagement with Peacebuilding, Peacekeeping, Prevention, and Mediation in Beijing. More than 50 experts and scholars attended the workshop, including Ms. Teresa Whitfield of the United Nations Department of Political Affairs, Ambassador Wang Xuexian, former Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations and Mr. Liu Chao, Senior Advisor of the China Institute for International Strategic Studies. The participants discussed the United Nations peacekeeping situations and reforms, explored the role that emerging countries can play. Participants also visited the China Peacekeeping Police Training Center in Langfang.
