On July 14th -July 15th,2015, the seminar on “Emerging Views on Global Peace Practice：New Directions in UN Peace Operations at the Occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Signing of the UN Charter” was held at the International Conference Hall in the United Nations Association of China(UNA-China).The Seminar was co-organized by UNA-China, The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), the Quaker United Nations Office (QUNO), and the Social Science Research Council (SSRC).

About 40 Peacekeeping experts and scholars from China, USA, Africa and United Nations attended the seminar. Vice-President and Director-General of UNA-China Mr. Liu Zhixian and Jason Tower of American Friends Service Committee addressed the opening ceremony. Deputy Director-General Shen Yinyin and Deputy Director of Social Science Research Council Tatiana carayannis addressed the closing ceremony.

During the meeting, Officials and scholars held in-depth discussions on 4 topics of “Findings from the UN Peacebuilding Architecture and UN Peace Operations Reviews”, “UN Peace Operations in PBC Countries: Views from the Field”, “The Role of Gender in Peace Operations and Prospects for Chinese Contributions” and “Tools and Approaches for Peace Practice: The Various Components of a Sustainable Peace”, shared experiences and research results and explored the future development direction of peace operations.
