Lu Shumin Chairs the Fourth Meeting of the 5th Executive Board of the UNA-China

? ? 20 December 2013 — the fourth meeting of the 5th Executive Board of the UNA-China was held in Beijing. Ambassador Lu Shumin, President of the UNA-China chaired the meeting. Ms. Zhang Xiao’an, Vice-President& Director-General of the UNA-China, reported the latest work of the UNA-China this year. Mr. Jia Guide, Deputy Director General of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was invited to give a speech titled "United Nations Convention On the Law of the Sea (UNCOS) and China’s Marine Situation". Ambassador Li Daoyu, Honorary President,?and other around 20 members of the UNA-China attended the meeting.

Ms. Zhang said, since the last meeting held in last July, the UNA-China has hosted or attended 15 roundtables or seminars on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, such as the Roundtable on Post-2015 Development Agenda co-hosted with the World Bank, Seminar on SDGs co-hosted with the Chinese Society for Sustainable Development and the Roundtable on the Post-2015 Development Agenda co-hosted with the IFUNA. The UNA-China also made speeches at the 7th China-ASEAN Forum on Social Development and Poverty Reduction, the Seminar of "the Role of BRICS on the Post-2015 Development Agenda" and the panel meeting of the Global Sustainable Development Report. On UN studies, the UNA-China co-hosted the Roundtable on Nuclear Disarmament and Non-proliferation with the China Arms Control and Disarmament Association as well as the UNA-UK. The UNA-China also participated in the 13th East Asian Seminar on the UN and the Seminar with the theme of "Responsible Protection towards a Safe World". Among other activities, Amb. Lu attended the founding conference of the Shanghai UN Research Association and the 2013 Trilateral Presidents’ Meeting of UNA-China, UNA-Japan and UNA-ROK. Ms. Zhang attended the First China-ROK Public Diplomacy Forum. In addition, the UNA-China hosted The 10th China National Model UN Conference successfully.

Ms. Zhang said that the UNA-China would carry out its work steadily in the coming year, including the Human Right Knowledge & Model UN Training Program, the China National Model UN Conference, the 2014 Trilateral Presidents’ Meeting of UNA-China, UNA-Japan and UNA-ROK in China and the 14th East Asian Seminar on the UN.
