?The 8th China-Japan-ROK Youth Forum Held in Beijing
? ? From Aug 29 to Sept 3, the China-Japan-ROK Youth Forum was held in Beijing, hosted by UNA-China and organized by Beijing Foreign Studies University(BFSU). Delegates from UNA-China, UNA-Japan, UNA-ROK and WFUNAattended the Opening Ceremony of the Froum. Amb. Lu Shumin, President of UNA-China, Amb. Akashi Yasushi, Vice-President of UNA-Japan, Amb. Ho-Jin Lee, Vice-President & CEO of UNA-ROK, Mr. Yan Huohua, Vice-President of BFSU delivered speeches respectively. They pointed out that young people are the future of the nation and the world and they are key holders to a peaceful and prosperous future in this region and friendly relations among China, Japan and ROK. They expressed their hope that the young people could strengthen their mutual understanding to make their own contribution to the sustainable and healthy development of relations between three countries.
? ? The Forum was composed of a Model UN Conference, a Youth Symposium and
cultural activities. One hundred student representatives participated in the
Forum from top universities in China, Japan and?
ROK, such as Peking University, Zhejiang University, Waseda University,
Tokyo University, Yonsei University and Korea University. In the MUN Conference,
they hold heated debates on Prevention of Armed Conflicts and Refugee Crisis
and adopted two draft resolutions. In the?
Symposium, they discussed ¡°Cooperation
between CJK on Sustainable Agenda¡±, ¡±Cultural Dialogue for Peace and Development¡± and ¡°Peacekeeping
and Peace-building¡± . They expressed their views and ideas especially on the role of young
people on these issues. In cultural activities, student delegates made
performances of songs and dances with?
their own national characteristics. They also visited? the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace. The
Forum enhanced their mutual understanding and expanded their consensus. Xinhua

? ? The China-Japan-ROK Youth Forum is a parallel eventof the Trilateral
Presidents Meeting of UNA-China, UNA-Japan and UNA-ROK, aiming at the promotion
of dialogue and understanding of the young people. It has been hosted by these
three countries in rotation since 2010. China has held the 2nd and the 5th,
respectively in Sichuan University and Northwest Polytechnical University in
2011 and 2014.
