On Nov. 8£¬Ms. Liu Hua, Deputy Director-General of the United Nations Association of China (UNA-China), met with Mr. Christophe Bahuet, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Country Director, and exchanged views on carrying out the Project of National Consultation on the United Nations Post-Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
?
The two sides shared the view that Post-MDGs will be another milestone guiding document for international development cooperation in the new era. As the largest developing country, China needs to participate in the Post-MDGs in an active manner, which will provide an opportunityfor China to stocktake achievements of MDGs, analyze problems and challenges in the development of Chinese economy and society and work out the priority areas of the Post-MDGs for China.
?
The two sides agreed to hold a seminar on the project in early December this year with participants from the government, academic institutions and civil society. Both sides agreed the Post-MDGs should be open, fair, participatory, transparent and inclusive, reflecting the concerns of all stakeholders in China in a balanced way.
?
Both sides agreed to keep close contact on the project, making it a model of cooperation between UNDP and UNA-China.
