On August 3rd, President Chen Jian, accompanied by Vice President and Director-General Zhang Xiaoan, met with Ms. Gillian Sorensen, senior consultative of the United Nations Foundation .

Chen briefed the first International Civil Servants’ Capacity Building Class, hoping Gillian could lecture at next year’s class. Chen also expressed wish to further cooperation on UN studies and exchange of ?visits with UNA-USA.

Gillian extended her congratulations on the success of the Class, indicated her willingness to be a lecturer for next year’s class and also welcomed the suggestion of enhancing mutual cooperation.

Gillian gave a brief introduction of the work of the UN Foundation, which mainly covers the areas of environment, education, public health and human rights. Gillian referred to the merge of ?the Foundation and UNA-USA, hoping the latter could revitalize with the improvement of its financial situation. At present, both sides were at the stage of adjusting to each other and everything went quite well so far, Gillian said.??
