On April 6, 2012, Ms. Zhang Xiao'an, Vice-President and Director-General of UNA-China attended and addressed the opening ceremony of Beijing Model UN Conference hosted by China Foreign Affairs University.

Le Yucheng, Assistant Foreign Minister, Qin Yaqing, secretary of the Party committee of China Foreign Affairs University, Chang Yu, vice-Secretary of China Communist Youth League Beijing Committee and Mr.Pablo Barrera, coordination expert from the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in China attended and addressed the conference. Dong Xia, Vice-Minister of Communist Youth League of China, Sun Xianghua, Councillor Officer of Department of Personnel of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tan Jian, Councillor Officer of Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Ambassador Hua Liming and Ambassador Wang Yusheng also attended the opening ceremony. Sha Zukang, UN Vice-Secretary General sent a message of greetings to the conference. About 400 student representatives from 52 universities in mainland, Hong Kong and Macau gathered in this Model UN Conference.

After the opening ceremony, Ms. Zhang also accepted an interview by Xinhua News Agency, Beijing Branch.
