on 19-20 2011, the Commemoration Symposium on the 40th Anniversary of The Restoration of the Lawful Seat of The People’s Republic of China in the United Nations was Held in Chengdu, Sichuan. Chen Jian, President of UNA-China chaired the opening ceremony, Wu Hailong, Assistant Foreign Minister, Huang Xingyuan, Secretary-General of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), Ms. Renata Dessallien, United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in China, Sun Ping, Executive Vice Mayor address the opening ceremony.

The symposium was co-hosted by UNA-China, CPIFA and UN system in China, and organized by Chengdu Municipal Government, nearly 100 people from eight UN agencies in China, scholars and experts in UN study and representatives from Chengdu government agencies and universities attended the meeting. The symposium held in-depth discussion over the topics of “the role of UN and China’s UN diplomacy”. Chengdu Municipal Government also held dialogue with the UN agencies in China regarding “the project cooperation between UN system in China and Chengdu Municipal Government”.
