2011 CNMUN

On November 20th, the 8th China National Model United Nations Conference (2011 CNMUN) was closed in success in the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT). Ambassador Chen Jian, President of UNA-China and Mr. Wang Jianwei, the political commissar of NUDT addressed the closing ceremony. Both of them expressed deep appreciaton for the organizers of 2011 CNMUN, the progress it has accomplished and its influence on future Model UN development.

This is the first time that a military university has held CNMUN Conference. The conference simulates Human Rights Council of the UN with two committees discussing “the Realization of the MDGs and the Right of Development” and “Facilitating and Protecting Women’s Rights” respectively. Two resolutions were passed. Twelve awards were presented, including Best Delegate, Best Delegation, Ambassador Awards etc.

CNMUN is one of the most influential Model UN activities in China. Its mission is to promote purposes and principles of the UN Charter, to deseminate UN knowledge, and to encourage the youth to get to know, love and support the UN. CNMUN has been held for 8 times until 2011. The previous seven conferences were organized respectively by China Foreign Affairs University (2004), Northwestern Polytechnical University (2005), Sichuan University (2006), Heilongjiang University (2007), Xiamen University (2008), Beijing Normal University (2009) and Sichuan International Studies University (2010).
