Vice-President and Director-General Ms. Hu Wenli attended International Symposium themed ¡°Strengthen the Role of the United Nations and Promote Multilateralism¡±
On March 24th, the International Symposium themed ¡°Strengthening the Role of the United Nations and Promoting Multilateralism¡± hosted by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, was held in Beijing. H.E. Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of the Foreign Affairs, delivered written remarks. Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Miao Deyu, Under-Secretary-General for Policy of the United Nations Mr. Guy Ryder, and Dean of Diplomatic Corps to China and Cameroon Ambassador to China H.E. Mr. Martin Mpana attended and delivered speeches. More than 100 delegates, including representatives from nearly 50 countries, international and regional organizations in China, UN officials, representatives of relevant departments, experts and scholars, attended the symposium.
Ms. Hu Wenli, Vice-President and Director-General of the United Nations Association, attended the symposium and chaired the discussion on Panel Five, "Youth and Future Generations: The Mission of Youth in an Era of Major Transformation". Participants stressed that the great changes unseen in a century have endowed the youth with a new historical mission, and the Pact for the Future adopted by the UN is an important guide for the development of youth in all countries. The United Nations and its member states need to take real action to empower young people, and the youth should contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
